Use the method of Godly Play as a tool to listen

Godly Play has proven to be a fantastic way in which children engage with story using their imagination and sense of wonder. Godly Play grew out of the investigative method of enabling children to tell or recall things that may have happened to them using play. Although Godly play follows a script, it constantly asks the question “I wonder” and this enables the children to express themselves and to say what they think. If you want to ask younger children what they think of church, worship and the groups they belong to, Godly Play could be the perfect tool. You will need to gather some materials to help with the discussion, but these can then be used for other Godly Play stories. On the G4G website there is an example for holding a Godly Play consultation with all the suggested materials.
