Use photographs or other images

Using photography and images are a creative way of children / young people expressing their views and opinions. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Look at past photographs of the groups activities and say what they like best about the activities and what they would like to do again
  • Ask the children / young people to find images from the Internet or magazines of things that they would like as a group (these need to be realistic and suitable). They could bring them to the group and the group could vote on what activities they want to do in the future and why (it would be good to encourage a mix of physical, reflective and discussion based activities)
  • Create a photographic collage of all the things they like doing or would like to change
  • Take pictures of the church building and churchyard and say what they like best about the building, what it means to them, what they don’t understand and how they might use the spaces differently
  • Make a PowerPoint with images, words and music that enable them to empress their views and opinions about church, God and faith. This could be used in the group as a discussion starter. It could also be shown to the PCC or wider church as a way of the children / young people sharing what they think and feel about church, God and faith and how it could be made more relevant to them
