Put a suggestion box in the church porch

Consider placing a suggestion box in the church porch or at the back of the church with some pens and postcard size pieces of paper next to it. If this is well advertised it can encourage some children / young people to anonymously make suggestions who would not normally go to church. It is a good idea to place a large sign next to the box stating ‘We need your ideas’ or ’Tell us what you want’, as this gives clear direction and instruction. Be prepared for some misuse and inappropriate suggestions. For wider impact the post box could be moved to a school for a few days as some children / young people may not live near the church. Suggestion boxes work well when they are time limited and checked regularly. When you have collected the information offered in the suggestion box and decided what you will do, it is helpful to let the children / young people know by feeding back directly or posting an update or report in the church porch and school. You can also repeat this activity at a later date if it works well.
